We have till the end of this week, (Friday 12th May), to make submissions about this plan and particularly the cuts which are likely to effect our community.
Our main concerns are:
We strongly oppose further delay of Lakes infrastructure upgrade to Otaramarae boat ramp and jetty area.
We are concerned about proposed cuts to core services and community projects which are considered important to our communities and economical development within the District.
We would like the council to consider whether in-house and other expenditure cuts identified in the released Council Report could be expanded as alternative options to the cuts proposed
We specifically oppose reduction of core services such as mowing and scheduled maintenance of rural road verges and also oppose removal of Educational services to waste management.
We acknowledgement that Plan essentially seeks to limit overall rates burden to around level of inflation.
However, starting points for Capital expenditure and Borrowing greatly exceeded Long Term Plan budgets for 2023/24 (without clear explanation).
