The LRCA Committee

Our Constitution allows for ten committee members and additional co-opted members.

We meet once a month, normally on the third Wednesday evening of the month at 6.30 pm at the West Rotoiti Volunteer Fire Brigade Fire Station on Okere Road.

During the winter months we tend to move the meeting time out to six weeks unless there are matters of importance.

Our aim is to keep the Rotoiti community abreast of issues of importance. We have committee members attend Rotorua District Council Meetings, Rotorua Te Arawa Lakes Strategy Meetings and Rotorua Lakes Community Board Meetings as observers where issues of significance to our community as a whole are raised. We liaise with Councillors and staff of Bay of Plenty Regional Council on matters of community interest. When necessary we attend Environment Court Hearings, Commissioners Hearings and Mediation Hearings. We liaise with Councillors and staff of Bay of Plenty Regional Council on matters of community interest.

We prepare and present submissions to Rotorua District Council, Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Regional Policy Statement on Fresh Water, Resource Management Act etc. on behalf of and in the best interests of the community.

We publish and produce a Newsletter twice a year which is mailed not only to members but also to individuals in the community who are not members. This is because we are a charity and our belief is that providing information as widely as possible is beneficial to all who live around our beautiful lake. We collect advertising for these Newsletters which helps to offset the publication and distribution costs.

We also have this website which we hope will be used more and more as a resource for the community.

Committee members do not receive remuneration for their committee work.
