New LRCA Chairperson

7 August 2020

Reina Anahira Engelen cares about her community and wants to be involved in an organization that has input into the decisions that affect the lakes community.

Reina Anahira Engelen is of Ngati Tamateatutahi/Ngati Kawati (hapu). Ngati Pikiao/Ngati Rongomai/Ngati Tarawhai descent.

Where do you live? SH30 Rotoiti East – right under the watchful gaze of my maunga (mountain) Matawhaura

Why did you join the LRCA? I care about what is happening in my community. I want to be involved with an organization that has input into what and how decisions are made that affect my community.

What do you love about Lake Rotoiti? It is who I am. I am born and bred here and pretty much lived in the lake when I was young, hung out with my cousins who I grew up with. We used to stay away from home most days and return when the street lights came on or got hungry. I would love my mokopuna to have at least some semblance of that relaxed and happy lifestyle.

What would you like your community to know about you? If you need any assistance, I am pretty easy to get a hold of. Obviously, not during normal work hours of 8.30 – 5pm. But certainly after 6pm weekdays and anytime during the weekend, even during Rotoiti rugby games……..lol

Thanks Reina for stepping up for your community!
