Invite Meeting 10am 30 June, Pikiao Rugby League Club.
Lake Rotoiti: Protect the Water Quality of the Lake - An update on the Diversion Wall
Background
The water quality of Lake Rotoiti, although having been good over recent years has plateaued and over the last couple of summers there were significant algal blooms at the western end of the Lake and around the Ohau Channel. Okere Arm and Okawa Bay areas.
A key contributor to these issues has been potentially leakage of Lake Rotorua water through the Ohau Channel Diversion Wall into Lake Rotoiti.
The LakeWater Quality Society in collaboration with the local community is hosting a public meeting on Sunday 30 June 2024 starting at 10.00 am to inform and update the community on the state of the diversion wall and the work programme to address this.
We urge you to attend this meeting so we can achieve good positive action through community wide support.
