Progress on the Ōkere Falls to Mourea shared path and the four pedestrian islands is going well.
NZTA advises that the plan is to have this completed in time for summer so people can enjoy walking and biking between Hamurana Road and Ōkere Falls.
Earlier, a group of local residents wrote to relevant authorities regarding concern over the proposed crossings at Ōkere Falls and campaigning for the inclusion of an underpass. The response to this request from Rotorua Lakes Council advising that Waka Kotahi do not currently have funding to provide an under pass can be viewed HERE.
