Ohau Wall Meant to Protect Rotoiti from Rotorua

The Ohau Channel Diversion Wall was built to protect Lake Rotoiti from the nutrient-rich waters of Lake Rotorua.

The evidence is clear - when the Wall is fully functional, it is an effective water quality tool.

But severe corrosion in the Wall is allowing nutrient-rich water to leak through. If nothing changes, we risk losing the recreational value of the lake, its diverse ecosystem, and the visitors it attracts every year.

We need to protect this taonga now so we can enjoy it for generations to come.
