LRCA Challenges proposed 100kph Speed Limit
Lake Rotoiti Community Association has highlighted that the planned reversal of the speed for this 850m section of SH33 from 80kph to 100kph appears to contravene the new Land Transit Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2024, which requires a section of highway with a speed limit of 100kph to be a minimum length of 2,000m.
Our community suggests that when one considers all aspects of this section - including the nature of the communities it joins, the school and public boat ramp at each end, its short length and the adjacent 60kph sections - a speed limit of 60kph would be more appropriate.
