BoPRC is Legally Required to Maintain Wall

Bay of Plenty Regional Council spent $11m building the Ohau Channel Diversion Wall in 2008 to protect Lake Rotoiti. As the Wall’s owner, BOPRC is legally obliged to maintain it.

Prolonged inaction over the Wall’s deterioration has put BOPRC in breach of its own resource consent.

Community concerns about the Wall’s condition have not been addressed, and as a result, the situation has worsened without intervention. It’s time for accountability. Lake Rotoiti, and all those who enjoy it, deserve better.
